Rule of Thirds

Without the Rule of Thirds (Bullseye), the staple remover
simply in the center, making the photo bland
The Rule of Thirds is a method of photography in which a 3 by 3 grid is used in the frame. The 4 intersections of the grid are focused over the object of interest, in order to make the photo more interesting to look at.
With the Rule of Thirds, the staple remover draws more
attention to the eye, thus making the photograph more
intriguing

Diagonals, Lead Lines, and View Space

Diagonal photographs are photos processing diagonal lines. Diagonals help make photographs more interesting, as these d lines make the eyes shift dynamically throughout the photo.

View Space in photography contains people or animals staring in a certain direction or object. It entices the viewer to look at what the people or animals are looking at in the photo, as their attention is being directed by it.

STEM Project Creation Initial Planning Guidelines

STEM Researchers!

Please follow the following guidelines and address every prompt in detail.
·       Project Topic
A short phrase or statement catching the essence of your project.
·       Project Description & Merits
Describe the project in your own words and list the possible contribution your project can have to advance the field of STEM or solve societal problems
·       Group/Team Communication
Who will be involved in your project and relevant projects? How to communicate effectively with each other? What are the tools for project collaboration?
·       Prior Work/Resource
What other researchers had done before in this field? What are their main contributions?
·      Technology Analysis
Identify the scientific and technical knowledge/skills involved in your project
·       Competence
Identify skill sets, technical competence in your group, and list the missing ones which need to be acquired
·       Safety
Identify any safety issues regarding the build, use, store, and dispose of materials and tools
·       Equipment, materials & budget
List the key materials and equipment required for your project
Identify the key items needed to be purchased and their prices
·       Schedule
What are the goals/milestones/plans of your project in the next 3 weeks? What are the task assignments for each team member?

Engineering Notebook

All project members are required to maintain daily online logs about their progress on their own blogs. The writing should be clear and concise. The following list is a template for your logs.
  • Progress: tasks accomplished, problems solved, questions answered, lessons learned, new idea identified, etc.
  • Problem: difficulties encountered, missing information, equipments required, materials missed, open issues, new risks or show stopper identified, etc.
  • Plan: steps to attack the problems, action items for tomorrow, experiments to conduct, ideas to try, etc.

Welcome!

Welcome to our STEM Research & Engineering Design blogs! You are invited to be the authors of both our class and project blogs. In the class blog, you are encouraged to share with us the news and development of the STEM fields, valuable technical resource and any class-wide announcements. For example, you can invite the whole class to test your product prototype through the blog. In your project blog, you will post your study notes, assignments, engineering journal, presentation, etc. Both blogs also serve as communication channels between project groups and me. Please check our class blog frequently.
